Wilderness First Aid

Our Basic Wilderness First Aid class is aimed at anyone who recreates outdoors, no matter what activity they do, or in which environment. It covers self-care and methods of preventing injury and illness, which includes techniques of purifying water, making a fire, personal hygiene and so on.

This class takes place entirely outdoors no matter what the weather, so it's important to dress accordingly. Training locations are carefully selected for ease and accessibility, as well as for their wilderness feel. We want our training to be as realistic and immersive as possible, so we utilize both brought equipment and improvised solutions as we deliver this training.

By the end of the class, students will be prepared to confidently deal with basic, common outdoor emergencies, and know how to get help if they need it. Examination is a combination of ongoing practical skills assessment, and by written test at the end of the program. Certification is issued by the awarding body NASAR, the National Association for Search and Rescue, and is valid for two years.
